Two campuses make up the school: the Jacinto Campus that houses the schools and colleges of the university along with the Graduate programs, and the Matina Campus for the Grade school and High School students.
The University landed 5th place among the top 20 Philippine universities based on the results of board exams administered by the Philippine government according to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Commission of Higher Education (CHED). It placed as the 127th in the Asian region ranking done by the QS 2009 Asian University Rankings.
As one of the nine schools owned and managed by the Society of Jesus, the Ateneo de Davao University aims to establish a standard of excellence in both academic and spiritual formation in various fields. At the same time, they also strive for stronger faith so that they can realize God’s ultimate plan for them. In the spirit of service, various sectors of the Atenean community reach out to others to live up their mission for the greater glory of God. Through different activities and educational programs, the institution helps form young men and women to be “persons-for-others”. With this, the Social Involvement Coordination (SICO) program involves students to live in specific communities and mingle with people of all kinds such as tribal folks, farmers, fishermen, indigenous people, street children, the urban poor and prison and resettlement sites. These immersion programs yield a deeper understanding of the desperate concerns of the diverse sectors of the community, present a broader perception on the problems of the society, and reflect and identify real opportunities for service and social transformation.
The University of Ateneo de Davao embraces such precise scholarship and devotion to ethical values in all sectors in both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Within Ateneo Legal Aid Services, the College of Law is known for emphasizing Christian ethics by providing several pro bono programs. The Social Work and Psychology programs integrate fieldwork in the Davao regional vicinity into their curriculum. Students from the School of Business and Governance Graduate studies make time to assist several non-profit organizations with their business planning efforts. The Graduate programs of College of Arts and Sciences emphasize critical thinking and communication heavily in order for students to grasp a better understanding of themselves and the world so that they may lead lives contributing to their profession and to society at large. Mandatory philosophy and theology undergraduate courses help students from different cultures and faiths to confront and deal with contemporary problems about culture, ethnicity and church communities.
The Ateneo de Davao University strives to instill in each of its students the selfless notion of being a person for others. With hope, such commitment to values will soar through each student far after he graduates, such that he makes a genuine difference to society and the world.
