The Museo Dabawenyo presents a rich and cultural collection of the most prominent handicrafts that Davao is known to be of. Keep in mind the following facts, tips and guidelines when visiting the museum:

The Filipino term Dabawenyo is used to describe locals from Davao. Museo Dabawenyo is directly translated to the “Museum of the people of Davao”
The museum is one of the two most popular museums in Davao, and is commonly referred to as the “New Museum” for obvious reasons. Coincidently, the other museum is known to be the “Old Davao Museum”.
It was first opened to the public on the 71st Celebration of Davao Day on March 14, 2008.
The entire museum is subdivided into four rooms: The Indigenous People’s Gallery, a collection of arts, crafts, weapons and musical instruments made by various tribes who live in the surrounding provinces of Davao; The Moro People’s Gallery, a fine collection of miniature house boats, chairs, weapons, armors, musical instruments, and crowns that were previously used by the Muslim people in Southern Philippines; The Contemporary Gallery, a collection of classic and modern designed paintings, wood carvings and the like; and the Memorabilia Gallery, a collection of olden day clothing, money bills, porcelains, musical notes and photos of old schools, houses churches, building and aerial shots of City of Davao in the past as well.
Accommodations of students in field trips are allowed as long as reservations are made prior to the day of visit. The museum may be constrained to cancel when problems occur such as emergencies or brown-outs within the vicinity of the building.
Museum hours are between 9am- 12:00pm and 1pm-6pm daily from Tuesday to Sundays. Mondays are allotted for maintenance purposes.
Make sure to visit the museum at least an hour before closing time as they won’t allow visitors to enter an hour before it closes.
Admission is free!
It takes about an hour to go around and observe the entire museum.
The museum is a feast only for the eyes. Touching artifacts, artworks along with everything else is strictly prohibited.
Silence must be observed inside the galleries and along the corridors of the museum
Eating and smoking are strictly prohibited inside the lobbies, galleries and corridors of the museum.
Stepping on pedals where the items are securely placed is not allowed
Taking pictures is not allowed.
Phones with cameras, camera, big bags, boxes and packages are encouraged to be left inside buses and cars. Visitors may opt to deposit such items inside the check-in counter located at the main lobby with the security guard.
